The Pros and Cons of Group Travel

Travelling as part of a larger group can have many advantages, but this method of travel is definitely not for everyone. For those of you who are considering signing up for a group trip, here are a few pros and cons to think about before making your decision.

Following the Rules
Having a set of rules to follow can often be off-putting for many people, but this is something that is usually a part of travelling as a group. Since the company who is leading the trip is in charge of so many people, they will often come up with a set of guidelines that everybody needs to follow. If you are someone that does not like following rules, and would prefer to be in charge, then group travel may not be for you.

Inclusive Extras
With the majority of group trips, you will usually pay for the whole trip upfront, meaning that you do not have to worry about having to constantly be spending money while you are travelling, as you will have already taken care of all costs. However, keep in mind that there will always be optional activities that you may have to fork out for, whether this be a special meal or a sporting activity, as well as souvenirs that you will likely want to purchase. Nevertheless, for those who have quite a strict budget, a group trip can really help you to stick to this while still enjoying the travel experience.

Following a Fixed Itinerary
Travelling as a group means that you will have an itinerary that everybody needs to stick to, and this can often be frustrating for some. However, keep in mind that the itinerary would have been planned in a certain way for a reason, and will usually feature all of the main highlights of the destination that you are visiting. While some trips will offer quite a flexible itinerary, others will be quite rigid, meaning that you will not be able to have much of a say in the things that you see and do. On the other hand, this is often convenient for those who do not have the time to research and plan a trip themselves, as all of this work will have been already done for you.

Travelling Alone as Part of a Group
One of the biggest advantages for many solo travellers is the extra company that comes along with a group trip. While travelling solo can be plenty of fun, taking a group trip can be a great way to make new friends, especially with like-minded people. Travelling with strangers can really help you to form a tight bond, even if it is in quite a short amount of time, and this can really make the whole experience so much more valuable.

Group travel definitely does have its share of pros and cons, and this is something that you will really need to think about before signing up for a trip. For those who enjoy planning their own itineraries and staying in control, a group trip may not be for you, but for those who do not enjoy the planning stage, and enjoy meeting new people and making new friends, a group trip could be exactly what you need.

How to Have Your Best Vacation Ever

Woman in a yacht

When you think back to all the vacations that you have previously taken, it is likely that some of them brought you much more happiness and enjoyment than others, but have you ever stopped to wonder why? It turns out that there are a variety of factors that contribute to how happy your vacation makes you, and, once you understand exactly what these are, there is absolutely nothing to stop your next vacation from being the best one that you have ever had.

Planning
While spontaneous trips are often fun, a certain level of planning is essential if you want to make the most of your vacation. Not only does planning your vacation in advance allow your excitement to build up over the weeks or months, but, once you are actually there, it takes away some of the decisions that you may have otherwise needed to make on the spot, allowing you to simply relax and enjoy yourself.

Try Something New
For children, a vacation seems to last forever, and that is because of all of the new experiences that their brain takes time to process. The best way to replicate this as an adult is to make sure that you fill your vacation with as many new experiences as you can. Whether this may be trying new foods or trying a new type of activity, all of these new experiences will contribute to making your vacation your best one yet.

Manage Any Work
If you are able to completely take time off from work whilst on vacation, then you should most definitely do so, and this means staying away from your work emails and messages the entire time you are away. If, however, some work whilst on vacation is unavoidable, then you need to be sure to manage your working time properly. Set yourself some limitations, such as responding to emails in the morning but then putting your phone or computer away for the rest of the day.

Have Fun
It goes without saying that fun is absolutely necessary in order to have your best vacation ever. Be sure to make time every day to relax in between all of your vacation adventures, socializing with others and sharing your experiences, whilst reflecting back on the past day. Having fun also means leaving the mundane tasks behind. If you don’t want to worry about having to find a babysitter, arrange for one in advance, or you could even bring a family member along on the promise that they act as a babysitter when needed. If you are renting a vacation house rather than staying at a hotel, it may be worth finding someone to cook and clean whilst you are staying there, so that you won’t need to worry about those things yourself.

Once you have had your best vacation ever, don’t forget to sort through all of your photographs and memorabilia, displaying the ones with the most sentiments behind them. While it may be hard-hitting to immediately get back to your everyday routine, these tips will ensure that every vacation you take will be even better than the last!

Best Los Angeles Beaches – OROGOLD Reviews

Thanks to warm weather all year round, and 75 miles of coastline, Los Angeles is a magnet for beach lovers from all over the world. With almost two dozen beaches in the county, LA has something to offer for everyone, from families with young children to surfers looking for the best waves. OROGOLD reviews the best Los Angeles Beaches here.

Leo Carrillo State Beach
Leo Carrillo State Beach is among the most beautiful beaches that you will find in Los Angeles. The beach, located at the northern tip of Malibu, stretches out for about one and a half miles, meaning that there is plenty of space if you want to get away from the crowds. Since the waves are quite tame here, it is great for longboarding, although not so great for surfing. The beach is dotted with sea caves and tidal pools, both of which are always fun to explore, for adults as well as children. It is also one of the only beaches that you can bring your dog to, as long as you keep him on a leash. If you want to spend the night under the stars, there is a camping ground on site that you can use, as well as picnic areas and showers.

Beautiful picture of the Venice Beach, Los Angeles.

Venice Beach
Venice Beach is arguably one of the most famous beaches in the world, thanks to its trendy boardwalk, bikini-clad women on roller skates, and an endless array of street performers. For those who like to people-watch, Venice Beach is the one for you. Due to its popularity, it is usually always crowded, but because the beach is quite spaced out, there are still areas to go if you want some peace and quiet. The boardwalk has plenty of shops, selling beachy clothing and surfing equipment, and there is also a huge choice of places to eat and drink. There are lifeguards stationed throughout the beach during the day, but because the waves are quite inconsistent here, it is not the best spot for surfers.

The Malibu Surfrider Beach, California.

Malibu Surfrider Beach
As you can tell from the name, the Surfrider Beach in Malibu is the best one for surfers. The sandstone reefs at the north of the pier help to create the perfect break, so that surfers can ride the waves all the way down the coast. There are three different surfing points to choose from, meaning that beginners, as well as the more advanced surfers, can all take part in the action. Don’t worry if you aren’t a surfer, as it is still a great beach to relax and be a spectator. There are also plenty of eating options, so you could easily spend the whole day on the beach.

The El Matador State Beach in Los Angeles.

El Matador State Beach
El Matador State Beach is a secluded pocket beach, located north west of Malibu. The beach is considered to be a hidden gem, especially when compared to the more well-known LA beaches, and is famous for its ridged cliffs and rocky outcrops. Since the beach is quite rocky, be sure to bring shoes with you, as well as any food or drink that you may want, as there are no facilities here. However, don’t let that put you off, as it is a great beach to visit when you want some privacy, and its location makes it perfect for watching a beautiful sunset.

Los Angeles, with its endless summers, sparkling ocean and swaying palm trees, will never disappoint those who want to spend some time on gorgeous sandy beaches. With so many to choose from, you could easily spend each day at a different beach and still not have time to visit them all, so make sure to do some research beforehand in order to find the LA beach that is perfect for you.
