Hot Beach Must Haves

While the summer months are a favorite amongst many, they do also present a unique set of fashion challenges, especially at the beach. For those who want to look chic on the sand but still feel comfortable and protected from the sun, take a look at these hot beach must haves.

Woman wearing triangle bikini

Triangle Bikini
Triangle bikinis are timeless, never really seeming to go out of style. With so many different versions of them out there, it is also relatively easy to find one that will suit just about every body type. For a chic and sporty black and white two piece, take a look at the bikinis from Mikoh, while those who are after something more feminine will love the floral triangle bikini from Brynja.

White Onesie
A casual white onesie is ideal for a day at the beach, as it can easily be worn over your swimwear, and by having an all-in-one piece, it will save you time when it comes to putting together your whole outfit. Zimmerman have designed a range of rompers in a variety of fabrics and prints, and their white pieces really stand out. The Belle Bustier Romper has a delicate feminine quality to it, while the Realm Scallop Romper plays with different textures to create a simple yet stunning look.

Aviators
Aviators always look stylish, and do a great job at protecting your eyes, and the skin around them, from the sun. For those who like to view the world through rose-tinted glasses, the aviators by Victoria Beckham will be right up your street, while those who would prefer a more classic, dark-tinted style, will find this at Givenchy.

Crimson Shorts
Bright, bold colors are bang on trend for this summer, and a pair of crimson shorts will be easy to style with other pieces. For a gorgeous lace pair, head on over to Dolce & Gabanna, while those who are seeking something lighter can opt for the red and white striped shorts from Land’s End, or the even more laid-back pair from Alice and Olivia.

Woman wearing a sun hat

Sun Hat
A sun hat is always a must-have accessory for the beach, and this season sees some elegant new styles being created by top international designers, making it easy to give your beach outfit a high fashion touch. The New York Cape Stripe sun hat by Kate Spade is a classic black and white, making it easy to style, and is also designed to be convenient to pack, making it ideal for beach vacations. For a timeless floppy straw hat, J.Crew have a design in both black and tan, and is a piece that you could wear for many years to come.

Retro Bikini
It is always a good idea to have at least two go-to pieces of swimwear, and if a triangle bikini is going to be one, a retro bikini can be your other. She Made Me is an Australian brand that has created a range of crocheted bikinis, while Lisa Marie Fernandez has a few retro styles that are truly one-of-a-kind.

Putting together a beach outfit that looks stylish, yet is comfortable enough to wear under the hot sun, can often be difficult. However, if you have a few go-to beach pieces in your wardrobe that are classic and easy to style, you will not have any problems putting together chic looks all summer long.

Cute, Warm Weather Dresses

Now that the warmer weather has finally arrived, it is the perfect opportunity to invest in some cute summer dresses. Whether you opt for a simple slip dress or a feminine ruffled dress, a warm weather dress in a style that really works with your body shape and personal style will keep you looking cute but chic all season long.

Slip Dress
Slightly reminiscent of the 90’s, slip dresses are going to be very much on trend this summer, especially after Calvin Klein, Givenchy and Balenciaga sent their own versions down the runway last season. The easy and relaxed silhouette of a slip dress can be brought into the modern day with contemporary details and graphic prints, bringing an edgy attitude to what would otherwise be considered as slinky lingerie.

Prairie Dress
Prairie chic is a style that incorporates practicality with femininity and has been completely embraced by a number of designers for this summer. With demure, high necklines and dainty prints, prairie dresses have a classic appeal to them, but need to be styled quite carefully in order to keep them looking contemporary. Chunky biker boots give a prairie dress some attitude, as does a leather jacket, but remember to keep your accessories and makeup quite minimal.

Ruffled Dress

Ruffled Dress
Ruffles are a great way to balance out curves while adding volume to areas that need enhancing. When choosing a ruffled dress, keep your body shape in mind, and if one part of your body is smaller in proportion to others, choose a dress that has ruffles in that area. If you have an hourglass figure, a dress that features ruffles along the neckline, hem and sleeves are usually best, as this will prevent any additional ruffles from making your curves seem out of proportion. Ruffled dresses are extremely versatile, and can be paired with flats for the daytime or high heeled strappy sandals for an evening out.

Shift Dress
Shift dresses are both cute and sophisticated, and the beauty of a classic shift dress is that it suits just about every body shape thanks to the way in which it skims the body lightly without clinging to it. Shift dresses in linens, cottons and light knits are ideal for the warmer weather, and the varying hemlines and necklines out there mean that you will be able to find a shift dress to suit any occasion.

Cute and feminine looks always work well in the warmer months, which is why it is always worthwhile having a couple of go-to summer dresses in your wardrobe. When choosing dresses, remember that you do not want to be baring excess skin, even if it is the summer. If you are looking for a dress with a short and flirty hemline, go with a scoop neck or a bandeau neck, or, if you would prefer to have a plunging neckline, pair this with a slightly longer hemline. Try to have varying styles rather than similar looks, as this will allow you to mix and match with your accessories to a greater extent, creating some one-of-a-kind summertime outfits.

Must Have Spring Accessories

handbags, sunglasses and other accessories hot for spring

Spring means that the sun is back and flowers are back in bloom. It is not just the trees and flowers that need to get ready for spring, we need to prepare our spring style also! The return of warmer weather brings a different style of dress, it is time to throw off the warm layers and bring on the sun protection. As a general style rule spring = the return of light pretty colors and light layers along with accessories to protect you from the warmer weather.

First things I always pull out for spring are big floppy sun hats, thin scarves and big shades. All these items not only make you look fabulous but also help protect delicate skin from the sun. Sun protection is always important but especially so after we have been hiding indoors all winter. Check out the gorgeous Gigi Burris Millinery ‘Tina’ Hat to give you some fabulous spring style. I love the less common color and unique lambskin ribbon. Go for a lightweight scarf in spring, like Love Quote’s Knotted Tassel Scarf. All those tassels will add some cute flare to your outfit. Spring and summers most important accessory is a pair of sweet shades. The Prada ‘Baroque’ 55mm Round Sunglasses are unique and absolutely breathtaking.

Pastels are the perfect spring colors. I am loving mint right now. It just seems like the perfect shade. The 3.1 Phillip Lim Mint Cloque Floating Peplum Top in Mint Green is just gorgeous. The color is amazing and the shape is super flattering. Another great option which is also incredibly wearable and convenient is the Balenciaga Classic City Bag in Rose. Big enough to fit everything you could possibly need including you scarf and sunglasses!

Speaking of spring colors, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention radiant orchid. It is the pantone color of the year for 2014, a beautiful purple shade with pink and fuchsia undertones. Though it is the color of the entire year, I feel like it works perfect for spring. The B Brian Atwood Priscilla Twist Strap Wedge Sandal in Purple is an awesome option. Not only do they come in a dreamy sueded texture but the wedge sandal is a must have for spring! If you want to try out radiant orchid in a small dose you can add it to your makeup arsenal. The LAURA MERCIER Caviar Stick Eye Colour in Orchid, a shimmering lavender color, looks lovely paired with any of your existing makeup colors.

As we know spring is time for flowers to bloom on trees and in field so why not on our fashion and accessories as well? Floral is fabulous for spring. I’ve seen many gorgeous options including this Dolce & Gabbana Floral-brocade Shoulder Bag. You can also go with just a bit of flower power on your feet. I love floral shoes, they offer just enough of a print and pop of color to liven up any outfit. You can’t go wrong with these Givenchy Floral-print Leather Pumps. Or take the flowers with you on spring vacation… slip into a bathing beauty with a floral print. Zimmerman’s Sundance Floral-print Triangle Bikini will make you the center of attention by any pool or ocean.

Which of our spring must haves do you like best? I really can’t decide myself, I love them all!
