An Introduction to Manscaping

There has been quite the surge in male grooming in recent years, which is exactly what the term manscaping refers to. For those of you who are only venturing into this area for the first time, this introduction to manscaping will teach you all that you need to know.

Quality Clippers
Grooming body hair is a large part of manscaping, but since you will be trimming it rather than shaving it, you need to invest in a quality pair of clippers. While the all-in-one models that are usually purchased to cut hair will be suitable for this, you would be better off with a model that has been designed for manscaping, as this will make it easier to reach trickier places.

Before you carry out any sort of body hair grooming, you need to ensure that you have exfoliated that area first. This will clear away the layer of dead skin cells that build up on the surface of the skin, allowing you to achieve a much finer cut, and will also prevent ingrown hairs from forming.

Facial Grooming
The easiest way to begin manscaping is to assess the hair on your face and decide the best ways in which you could go about tidying it all up. Nose hairs should not be visible, and these can easily be removed with an inexpensive trimmer, or with a pain-free hot wax session. A uni-brow is also not generally accepted when it comes to manscaping, although overly manicured eyebrows should also be avoided. If plucking or waxing your brows is too painful a prospect, try combing them upwards and then trimming away and longer hairs with a pair of scissors.

Body Hair Grooming
Just like with facial hair, body hair is absolutely fine, as long as it is kept neatly trimmed. This applies to everything from your back and your chest to your arms and your legs, depending on which areas of your body you want to show off. While your clippers will be able to help you neaten it all up, if you need a large quantity of hair removed then it may be best to book yourself a waxing appointment. Keeping the hair under your arms trimmed is also important, not only for aesthetic reasons but also because this will help to prevent sweat from building up and causing an odour.

There are certain parts of your body where it will be easier to shave rather than use your clippers, and, in these cases, it is essential to make sure that you are shaving correctly in order to avoid redness, bumps, and ingrown hairs. Shaving with, rather than against, the grain will be much kinder to your skin, and will also give you a better look overall.

Manscaping can often seem intimidating to those who have never given it much thought, but a little bit of effort can go a long way when it comes to your overall appearance. From keeping your brows trimmed to showing off a hair-free back, these tips will help you to get started with manscaping.
