Our Favorite Canadian Celebs – OROGOLD Reviews

Although it may not always be immediately apparent, Canada is the birthplace of many celebrities that are much-loved all over the globe. From Hollywood’s biggest actors to country music’s biggest stars, OROGOLD brings you our favorite Canadian celebs.

Avril Lavigne
Avril Lavigne, born in Ontario, Canada, struggled with ADHD as a child, but managed to develop her love for music. By the time she was 15, she had appeared on stage with Shania Twain, and, by 16, had signed a record deal worth over $2 million. Her debut album, Let Go, brought her worldwide success, with many of her songs holding on to the number one spot on music charts in different countries. Although she may not appear on Canada’s Walk of Fame and has never won a Grammy Award, her success has led her to become one of Canada’s most famous musicians of all time.

Keanu Reeves
Although he lived in a few different countries when he was young, Keanu Reeves primarily grew up in Toronto, and started acting at the age of 9. In 1994, he received his big break, when Speed became a worldwide phenomenon, of which he had a starring role. His subsequent work in The Matrix series has earned him a net worth of around $350 million.

William Shatner
With a current net worth of over $100 million, William Shatner first arrived in Hollywood from Canada in the 50s, and soon began appearing in Westerns and detective shows. It wasn’t long before he landed himself the role that made him famous all over the world, as Captain Kirk in the 60s classic Star Trek series, as well as the subsequent feature films. Recently, Shatner has been seen in popular television dramas, such as Boston Legal and The Practice.

Shania Twain
Proving that the stereotype of great country singers only coming from the south is not true, Canadian-born Shania Twain emerged as a country star in the 90s, quickly becoming a worldwide sensation. Not only is she the female to produce the best selling album of all time, but she has also produced the best-selling country album of all time, with over 40 million copies sold globally. Shania Twain has also won 5 Grammy Awards and 27 BMI Songwriter awards, and, to this day, is still one of the most popular singers in Canada.

Rachel McAdams
Born in London, Ontario, Rachel McAdams studied at York University in Ontario, graduating from a theatre program. She went on to work in Canadian film and television production, winning many Canadian awards and nominations. In 2002, McAdams moved to the bright lights of Hollywood, and landed a starring role in the teen comedy Mean Girls, as well as the romantic drama, The Notebook, both of which turned her into a worldwide star. She was inducted into Canada’s Walk of Fame last year, along with her Canadian colleague, Ryan Reynolds.

Over the years, Canada has produced some world-class talent, with OROGOLD’s favorite Canadian celebs having an impact in many different countries. From the best selling country music star to Hollywood’s biggest names, it is only a matter of time before we see even more extraordinary talent coming from Canada.
